Philip chircop 4
Rev. Philip Chircop, S.J.

Fri, Feb 15 2019 - Sun, Feb 17 2019

Preached Silent Retreat
Actual Cost: $350.00
Minimum Offering: $250.00
God calls us all to be saints – not plastic statues of saints, but real people of flesh and blood who daily seek ways to be instruments of peace, joy and communion. Holy people are compassionate people who take the Good News seriously, making time for prayer and acts of loving-kindness. In this retreat, we will explore two simple questions: What does it mean to be holy? How can we become holy?

Rev. Philip Chircop, a Jesuit priest born on the island of Malta, is an artist at heart. He strongly believes that beauty is a uniquely wonderful entry into the mystery of the God “whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere.” God can indeed be “tasted and seen” all around us if we are patient enough to look long and lovingly. Fr. Philip is always seeking for creative ways to proclaim the Good News, inspiring fellow pilgrims to embrace real and radical changes leading to transformation.

We will "push the pause button" during this day of prayer and explore the call to balance, with the grace of God active in our lives. We will look at the imbalances and prayerfully plan what to change, how to grow, what to delete and what to add to our agendas. We will use scriptures, poetry, art and music to enhance our reflections. There will be talks and silent times for contemplation.

As a Sister of St. Joseph, Sr. Janet Franklin has been engaged in spirituality ministry for over 40 years, serving as Vicar of Religious in New Orleans for fourteen years. She facilitates meetings, gives talks and workshops and presents retreats around the country for religious congregations, laity and ecumenical groups. With the publication of Pope Francis' apostolic exhortation, Gaudete et Exsultate ("Rejoice and be glad"), he challenges us to reflect on the gospel mandate to renew our efforts at growing as a holy people called to serve others. As Lent, 2019 begins, you are invited to get into the boat and to chart new waters - a positive step in Easter preparation. the morning of reflection will help participants to "put out into the deep" with the opportunity to deepen the contemplative and prophetic dimensions of life and ministry.
