Gretchen dysart
Sr. Gretchen Dysart, MSC

Wed, May 1 2019 - Wed, May 1 2019

Preached Silent Retreat
Actual Cost: $35.00
Minimum Offering: $35.00
Novice gardeners, weathered professionals, all who hear the call: come to the quiet grounds of the Retreat Center to reflect and grow! Through Scripture, poetry, song and reflection, we will walk the garden path to deeper relationship with God. How does God turn the soil of your soul and plant seeds of self-knowledge and enlightenment? How do the moments of gardening - digging, sowing, weeding, transplanting, weeding(!), relishing the fruits of labor - call you into surprising kinship with the Earth and her creatures?

Sr. Gretchen Dysart is a Marianite of Holy Cross whose ministries have called her to classroom teaching, communications work in television and radio, community leadership and environmental education. At an early age, her mother modelled and instilled a deep love of nature and gardening that has grown throughout Sr. Gretchen’s 50+ years of religious life.

Day of Reflection
Actual Cost: $35.00
Minimum Offering: $35.00
Pope Francis in his usual inspiring, insightful and utterly practical way insists that each person is called by God to follow his or her own unique path to holiness according to the gifts that God has given. Calling the Beatitudes the Christian's "Identity Card," he says they can help us discern the Holy Spirit's movement and guidance in the depths of our heart. he makes us aware of the serious obstacles to holiness and how we need to address these. While holiness requires silence, solitude and constant prayer, it also sends us out in loving compassion and mercy to minister to poverty and injustice in our world.

Msgr. Doug Doussan is a retired priest of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. He is currently serving as Resident Chaplain of the Archdiocesan Retreat Center. He was formerly the pastor of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in New Orleans and St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Marrero.

Matt Rousso has been engaged in pastoral ministry in four parishes in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Since 1991, he has worked with Maryknoll Ministries, conducting mission spirituality programs in and around New Orleans and Louisiana. Actions on behalf of justice and promoting solidarity with the poor of developing countries have been key aspects of his ministry.
